Workshop in Spain with Amir John Haddad  from 29 July until 10 August 2012

Location and travel there: I am offering a guitar workshop in Spain in the first two weeks of August 2012. I rented a great, small hostel with a big garden for the workshop in Ferreirola, a beautiful, small village in the Alpujarres (mountain chain between Granada and the Mediterranean). It is one of the most beautiful places you can imagine. Ferreirola is at an altitude of 1,000 m above sea level, which is a great advantage in the summer. It is pleasantly warm during the day and cools off a bit in the evening, so that you can sleep well. Ferreirola is approx. a one-hour drive to Granada and 2.5 hours to Malaga. Whoever flies to Malaga can continue by bus, have us pick you up or rent a car and drive to Ferreirola (takes about 2.2 hours to drive from Malaga to Ferreirola). If so desired, we will arrange to pick up workshop participants on Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday (on request). There are inexpensive flights from Germany to Malaga with Easy Jet or German Wings, for example. Whoever books early might be able to get an especially cheap price.

ACCOMODATION
The hostel "Sierra y Mar” has 10 rooms, both single and double rooms. All rooms are furnished individually and have a balcony with small outdoor area and direct access to a picturesque garden, which is full of flowers, plants and palm trees. There is also a large lounge and a kitchen for use by all with refrigerator, in which you can prepare a meal.
On request, we can also provide you with the addresses of houses to rent for the duration of the workshop for participants, who want to come with their families.
Of course, you can extend your hostel stay (either before or after the workshop).

MEALS
A substantial breakfast is included in the room price. The owners of "Sierra y Mar" Giuseppe and Inger are fantastic people, and you would have trouble finding more friendly hosts. They provide home-baked bread and self-made jam at breakfast as well as cheese, tomatoes from their own garden, coffee, tea and lots more.
Everyone can prepare his or her own lunch or eat in a nearby restaurant around noon. I can also arrange that on request.
In the evening, we eat together in one of the restaurants in the area or in Granada when we go to a concert. Participation in all activities during the workshop is voluntary.

WORKSHOP
The course takes place in the yard or in the lounge depending on the weather. Four hours of classes per day are planned. I will also be there as an assistant to Amir. You can also ask me questions at any time.
Many of you already know the teacher from my popular workshops in the Black Forest. You can see a small sample of his skills here. Amir speaks Spanish, German and English.
The course will start on Sunday, July 29. Plan to arrive Friday, Saturday or Sunday, July 27, 28 or 29. The last official course day is Friday, August 10. Our traditional good-bye dinner with subsequent fiesta takes places on this day. Departure days are Saturday or Sunday, August 11 or 12.
Forty hours of guitar technique and pieces are planned. This includes one day with a singer, to learn how to accompain a singer with the guitar.
The Level is beginner with basic knowledge until professional players.

SUPPORTING PROGRAM
I will arrange two trips to Granada, so that we can see one or two flamenco concerts depending on what is available. In the evening, we will have dinner together in a nice restaurant in the area. We'll do some sightseeing in the afternoons, possibly swim in a river in the mountains, go shopping or simple enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings. Whoever wants to can go to a nearby swimming pool. Two days we will spend together on the beaches close to Granada.
Amir will give a concert one evening, which I will arrange in the area of Ferreirola.

PRICES:
The workshop costs 500 euros.
Accommodation in the hotel costs 37 euros per night in a single room and 55 euros per night in a double room for two persons. To occupy a double room, at least two persons must book it.
Participation in the workshop is confirmed once the course fee of 500 euros has been paid to the course account.
Participants will be informed of the course account.

CANCELLATION CONDITIONS:
You can cancel your registration free of charge up to three months before the workshop starts.
From three months before the workshop start until six weeks before it starts, a cancellation fee of 300 euros is due.
From six weeks before the workshop start, the course fee will only be refunded if another participant is found to take your place.
The cancellation fee does not apply if you provide another person to take your place.
The hotel is to be paid on site.

WHAT YOU GET:
The workshop price includes at least 40 hours of classes.
Breakfast is included in the hotel price.

EXTRA EXPENSES
Collective pick-up from Malaga Airport costs approx. 25 euros (approx. 2.5 hour drive) if there a least four participants Pick-up costs for individuals are 100 euros.
Approx. 50 euros is charged for picking up single persons from the bus station in Granada.
We will take you back at the end of the course at the same conditions. On request and if a participant rents a car, we will try to arrange for you to meet and travel together.
Ticket prices for any possible concerts.
All meals besides breakfast.
