Lucas Martin - Lebanon Cedar and Spruce, 2011
More informations about the guitarbuilder Click here.
Lebanon Cedar was up until now rarely used for the construction of Flamenco guitars, even though it is highly suitable. The wood for this guitar was taken from tree aged several hundred years. Apparently the Lebanon Cedar can reach an age of up to 1000 years. This kind of wood is extremely rare because the Lebanon Cedar is an endangered species. This wood is quite simply gorgeous! One will rarely find both back and sides of a guitar of such stunning beauty.  The wonderful grain is emphasized by the exquisite hand polished shellac finish. This instrument is a joy to look at. It is aesthetically well balanced without overstatement and with beautiful touches beginning from the sound-hole inlays to the head plate and the inlays at the rims of the back. I was able to have him build his new instruments with a much thinner neck, a request that many guitarists expressed to me who had tried the guitar but found the neck too thick.
The sound is well balanced and separates very well.  It has beautiful basses and balanced trebles, both with plenty of power. I would describe the overall impression of the tone as warm and brilliant. Now we have only 5 sets rest of this excellent wood and than the stock is finished.
