José Ramírez

José Ramirez is one of the successors to Manuel Ramirez. He had a lot of good guitar builders in his workshop in the 60s. The head of the workshop was Paulino Bernabé, who later became famous himself after he set up his own business. José Ramirez guitars from the 60s to the middle of the 70s are among the finest that I have ever seen. When it is a guitar with a spruce soundboard, then it is something very special, because José Ramirez mainly built cedar guitars. The Ramirez family has become a marketing company today, which does not have any guitar builders from its own family anymore. They try to convince people that they continue to build in the old tradition, but the product betrays this lie. The new guitars have nothing at all in common with the good old Ramirez guitars. Ramirez is no longer relevant for me today.
