This instrument was built from the famous guitarbuilder Gerundino Fernandez from Almeria. He is one of the great legends from the second part of last century. In the 80`s he still built his instruments by himself. Due to his excessive lifestyle he was later not anymore able to build all his guitars by himself. There was a great demand to his guitars in the 70`s and 80`s. So some guitars have been built after 1985 by other people. A lot of famous guitarists owned his guitars. Amongst them you find names like Paco Peña, Tomatito, Raimundo Amador, Pedro Bacan, Paco del Gastor and even the famous Eric Clapton owned a Gerundino. This guitar still belongs to the period where he built by himself.
You cvan find 3 repaired cracks on the top. One is below the fingerboard. There was inserted a peace of spruce. Another two cracks you find behind the bridge. Own beside the middle joint. There ewas also inseerted a piece of spruce. The 3rd is at the end of the bridge. This one is very fine and was only glued. At the side you find a small fisure, nearly invisible. It was glued. After repairing the cracks the top was refinished with some fine layers of french polish without touching the wood.
But now the most importand point. The sound. This guitar demonstrates why so many famous guitars got so crazy with Gerundinos. She is extremely archaic, big and resonant. She remembers me to a Reyes from the 80`s, but more Flamenco and fresher.
Impressive Sound with all you need. A piece of hostory with high value for user.
